Sevenoaks Online is published by the GOB Media Group. We would rather be told about a mistake than leave it standing. This page says how to reach us and what happens next. The full policy behind each step is in our editorial standards.

Corrections
If anything in a story is wrong, email hello@sevenoaksonline.co.uk with the link to the story and the passage that is incorrect. We aim to reply the same working day. We check it against the original source and, where we got it wrong, correct the article itself and add a dated note saying what changed. That note stays on the page: we do not quietly rewrite a story, and we do not delete one to make a mistake go away. More in how we correct.
Right of reply
If a story names you or your organisation, for example over a refusal, an inspection, an enforcement notice or an insolvency, email the same address with your response. We will add it to the story, dated and attributed, whether or not the original report was wrong. More in right of reply.
Complaints about a story
Tell us what the story is, what you believe is inaccurate, unfair or intrusive, and what you would like us to do. Email hello@sevenoaksonline.co.uk, or call 07784 937409. We acknowledge every complaint within two working days, go back to the original record, and reply with what we found and what we will do about it, normally within ten working days.
We do not belong to a press regulator, so we cannot offer an appeal to one. If our answer does not satisfy you, tell us and we will look at it again. Nothing on this page affects your legal rights. More in complaints.
Comments and reviews
Every comment, reply and directory review is checked before it appears. If one is about you or your business and you think it breaks our rules, or you want your own comment taken down, email us with the page it is on. We will look at it again and take it down if it should not be there.
Photographs and takedown requests
We publish a photograph only where we took it, licensed it, were given it for that purpose, or it is openly licensed, and we credit it. If you appear in a photograph and did not consent to it being published, or a photograph includes a child and you are the parent or carer, email us and we will remove it straight away while we look into it. The same applies to any article you believe should not be online: tell us why and we will decide quickly and explain the decision.
How we work
Most stories start in a public record: council planning and committee papers, Kent County Council, Land Registry, Companies House, Ofsted, the Food Standards Agency and police.uk. We use software to watch those sources and draft routine updates from them, and every fact is linked to the record it came from. Anything involving a named individual, a business’s finances, a court matter or a death is read by a person before it publishes. Press releases from councils, the police, schools, charities and community groups are published free of charge; paid articles are labelled Sponsored. More in where our facts come from.
Privacy
What we hold about you and how to have it removed is on our privacy page.
